1. Agreement
By downloading or using Mialo you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, do not use the app. You must be 16 or older to use Mialo.
2. What Mialo Is
Mialo is a private voice journaling app. You can record your thoughts, view transcripts, track your mood and streaks, and (on Pro) use AI to generate insights and chat about your journal. It is a personal reflection tool — not a medical, therapeutic, or mental health service.
Account: Mialo requires you to sign in with Apple. We store an anonymised Apple User ID and a session token on our servers — no email or name. See our Privacy Policy for details.
3. Subscriptions & Billing
Plans:
- Journal — $2.99/month
- Pro — $7.99/month
Billing:
- Billed monthly through Apple’s App Store
- Charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase
- Automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal date
- Manage or cancel via your Apple ID Account Settings
Refunds: All purchases are final. Refund requests go to Apple directly at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no control over Apple’s refund decisions.
4. AI Features — Fair Use and Limits
Mialo Pro AI features (insights, journal chat, follow-up questions) are subject to a fair-use limit of 100 AI interactions per day per account. Limits reset at midnight UTC. Automatic title generation for voice recordings is exempt from this limit.
5. AI Features — Important Disclaimer
Mialo’s AI features are for personal reflection only.
- AI-generated content does not constitute medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice
- Mialo is not a substitute for professional mental health care
- We make no warranty that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose
- We are not liable for any action taken or not taken based on AI-generated content
- The AI may make errors, misinterpret your journal, or produce responses that feel inaccurate

6. Your Content
You own your journal entries. We claim no rights over what you record or write. By using Pro AI features, you grant us a limited licence to transmit your transcripts to OpenAI solely to generate the AI feature you requested.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the app
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access or interfere with our servers
- Use the app to harm yourself or others
8. No Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ANY AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR NEEDS.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF JOURNAL DATA OR ANY ACTION TAKEN BASED ON AI-GENERATED CONTENT. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE YOUR CLAIM.
10. Data & Privacy
Your use of the app is governed by our Privacy Policy.
11. Referral Program
- Valid referral codes give the recipient 7 days of Pro access, free
- One redemption per account
- Codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged or transferred
- Mialo reserves the right to void codes and revoke benefits in cases of fraud or abuse
- Mialo may discontinue the referral program at any time
12. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time via Settings → Your Data → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and irreversible — all server-side data is deleted immediately.
We may suspend your access for breach of these Terms.
Subscriptions: Active subscriptions are managed through Apple and must be cancelled separately through the App Store. Mialo cannot issue refunds for remaining subscription periods.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after notification of changes constitutes acceptance.
